Expressive Portraits
Project Description:
Design a portrait of someone with a very expressive emotion. You will be using the pen tool in Illustrator to make this design. Start by finding reference photos on the internet of people with expressive/extreme emotion and make a rough sketch. Then continue to build upon that sketch by adding in details to push the portrait further.
Font Poster
Project Description:
For this project we’ll be exploring the design, feeling, and structure of your typeface to create a poster showing off its features. Experiment with visual contrasts of scale, weight, angle (italic vs regular), color and position. Take advantage of the tools we’ve learned about: alignment, grouping, white space, figure ground, hierarchy, etc.
Abstract Design
Project Description:
Create an abstract image using various shapes and to create pattern and depth. Also focus on playing with various colors and how color temperature can be used.
Latin Poster
Project Description:
Design a poster illustration that describes a latin phrase. Include the latin phrase and also the English translation. Use Adobe Illustrator to create your design.
Food Menu
Project Description:
Design a food menu using the provided company name and food options. Make sure to focus on creating a clear layout and use creativity in your design concept.
Zoo App Icon
Project Description:
Create an image of either a lion or a red panda and turn it into an app icon for a zoo. Use Adobe Illustrator to focus on line work to enhance the detail of the animal.
E-Magazine Cover Design
Project Description:
Design a cover for an online magazine of what transportation could look like in the future. Use Adobe Illustrator to make your design and focus on how the typography and design can relate to each other. Requirements are to use the magazine name Skyline and the subtitle, The Future of Urban Design 2171.
Ten Principles for Good Design
Project Description:
Design a poster of Dieter Rams’ design manifesto, Ten Principles for Good Design, featuring the following type contrasts (Scale, weight, angle, width, and serif/sans serif). The goal is to be obvious, a viewer should be able to see at a glance which contrast you are focusing on.
Album Art
Project Description:
For this project you will design album covers for the image based design.. You will pick the album cover name from a list and make your covers using Photoshop with no more than one imported image that will need to be edited and changed.
